GS Yuasa are proud to continue their successful partnership with HRC Repsol Honda Team and their riders, six-time MotoGP champion Marc Márquez & teammate Pol Espargaró. The world’s leading battery manufacturer will be continuing their sponsorship for the 2022 season with their market-leading Yuasa brand.
Since becoming a major sponsor of HRC Repsol Honda in 2013, Yuasa have enjoyed eight trophy laden MotoGP seasons. In 2019 Márquez made history, winning his sixth MotoGP championship. During the 2020 season Marc suffered a big accident meaning he had to watch the majority of the year from the side-lines. 2021 saw the triumphant return to competitive racing for Marquez, as he stood on the top step once again 581 days after his last win, while team mate Pol Espargaró achieved his best MotoGP race result and earned his first pole position on board the RC213V.
Marquez now begins the 2022 season fully recovered. The last two injury-hit seasons have not supressed his hunger and the multiple world champion is determined to fight for the title once again in his tenth season with the Repsol Honda Team.
Yuasa has a long and successful partnership with HRC and is a major original equipment (OE) supplier to the manufacturer, along with most other major bike brands. Over 90% of bike manufacturers fit a Yuasa battery at the point of manufacture due to the high quality, reliability and performance.
Pascal Marciano, Sales & Marketing Director at GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd said: “We are excited to see what HRC Repsol Honda can achieve in 2022. Our ongoing sponsorship of the team is a real success story, and a partnership that we are very proud of.
James Hylton, Managing Director of GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd commented, “Our close association with Honda and their MotoGP team has helped us to maintain and raise the Yuasa brand, whilst building on our status as the world leaders in motorcycle battery design and manufacture. We deliver products that provide quality, reliability and performance, and the team’s approach and success helps us to reinforce this.”
“Marc and the team’s phenomenal success has far exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to see what they will achieve next.”
The MotoGP action kicks off in at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar this weekend (6 March). With every other rider on the grid determined to beat the Repsol Honda riders, 2022 is sure to be another action-packed, adrenaline fuelled season.
