GS Yuasa partners with the IMI to future-proof battery training within the automotive industry

Market leading battery manufacturer, GS Yuasa, is proud to announce its new partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). The collaboration brings together two organisations with shared values who understand the importance of training and upskilling. Central to the new partnership is the shared goal to help the sector future-proof its skills at both individual and organisational levels.

As an IMI accredited trainer, GS Yuasa is known for delivering industry leading face-to-face training, as well as online learning at academy.gs-yuasa.eu. The company’s ethos is centred on putting technicians and distributors at the heart of what it does and actively helping them to grow their battery business through increased training and technical knowledge. This new partnership further solidifies this mission.

Battery technology continues to develop at pace, playing an ever-increasing role in the operation of modern vehicles. This makes the requirement for high quality training increasingly important for those working in the sector.  As a leading manufacturer of batteries, GS Yuasa is at the forefront of lead acid and lithium-ion technology, and is dedicated to training automotive professionals to ensure they have the knowledge and expertise to meet the changing landscape.

The IMI is committed to personal development of the highest technical standard in the automotive industry, and this partnership with GS Yuasa will enable the two organisations to work together closely to provide the best possible training to professionals in the trade. The collaboration will include working together on technical content, joint promotion, skills development activities and education in vocational skills.

Ian Newham, Training Manager at GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with the IMI. At GS Yuasa, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest levels of training and upskilling, and we look forward to working together.

As an IMI accredited provider, we’ve worked closely with the organisation to make sure our training is of the highest possible level. Our award-winning online training platform academy.gs-yuasa.eu is the first and only online battery training platform of its kind and has been widely welcomed by learners who are able to obtain IMI membership upon completion of the courses.”

Steve Nash, Chief Executive of the IMI, “added:  “With so much focus on battery technology, both in conventional combustion engine and electric vehicles, there is no question that this area of the automotive sector has a real demand for expert skills.  We are, therefore, extremely pleased to be enhancing the partnership between the IMI and GS Yuasa to ensure professionals can access the training and accreditation they need.

“The partnership between GS Yuasa and the IMI represents a new era of cooperation between two industry-leading organisations, both committed to providing high-quality training and support to the automotive industry.”
